The Abby Bag

Another project finished.
This time it's a bag. It's the Abby Bag by Vanessa Christenson of V and Co.

I made the straps 2" longer and also made them narrower. It's a really large bag so next time I make one I'll probably shorten the length but on the whole I'm pleased with the outcome.

Curtain finished

Finished my kitchen curtain yesterday. I lined it as the fabric was quite thin and then made a couple of fabric roses from the lining fabric and pinned them on so they are easy to remove when I need to wash them.

I don't have much time today but I am hoping to get some potholders and kitchen towels sewn up to match

My Fabric Flowers have been Featured

Remember a while ago I cut my finger and wasn't able to sew. In order to keep me busy so I didn't loose my mind I decided to make some fabric flowers.
Today Pam wrote to me to let me know they'd been featured.
Thanks Pam, I love your blog and the way you've set up your linky parties.

If you haven't come across Pams blog yet make sure you go over and check it out as well as the other lovely creations that have been featured.

Hearts, Getting Ready For Valentines

Christmas is over with. Hope you all had a wonderful time. Now we have the New Year celebrations to look forward too. There's nothing I like more than seeing the New Year firework displays shown on the tv taking part all over the world.

I just finished making a bag that I will be doing a review on but thought I'd show you that in the New Year. For now I'm getting ready for Valentines. Yes you read it right, I didn't get the time to make any decorations for Christmas so I'm starting now to be ready for Valentines Day.

I've started off with stuffed hearts. Here's my first 10.

I adore this fabric which I found in a new shop in our town on Christmas Day. It's for making sheets so it's really wide, 2.5 meters wide. I bought half a meter of this colour and two meters with pink flowers. I used the lilac coloured one for the lining on the bag I'll be doing a review on so I'll need to stock up on some more before they finish their stock.

Valentines wouldn't be valentines without some red and white polka dot hearts. I had enough of this fabric to make two then went and bought some more of a redder and smaller polka dot.

Here are twelve more waiting to be stuffed. I'll also be making some Valentine coasters once I've finished with the hearts and then I'll send them on to my daughter to sell at the craft fair.

Wishing all of you a Very Happy New Year for 2015.

Crazy Patchwork Table Topper

Trying to rush through with my sewing in the hope that everything will be finished before the New Year but just realized that's not going to happen.

I finished this custom order last night at 2am. This one is for the lady that I made the Allsorts table runner for which you can see here.

This one measures 60cm x 60cm. The fabrics used weren't all quilting cottons, in fact most of them are polyester cotton. I knew that if I made the top completely before putting it onto the batting I wasn't going to get it properly square so I just made the center four blocks with the burgandy border first. Stuck that onto the batting and then added the other borders like a quilt as you go method. Once that was done I put the backing fabric on and then quilted it.

I'm pretty pleased with the quilting and was surprised how quickly it was done. Normally I get up every 10 mins or so but this time was determined to park my behind on the chair and not move until it was finished.

I put it on my coffee table to see what it looked like and it's perfect in my sitting room. The colours match perfectly. Now I don't want to part with it.

I've still got loads more sewing to do and some posts to add to my blog so I'm off to clean my sewing room and then get cracking again.
